Do Rabbits Need Training?

Like dogs or cats or parrots, rabbits also need training.

Training a rabbit is pleasure and fun. The more patient you are, the best trained your rabbit will be. It will then obey your commands.

What steps are necessary to make your rabbit friendly? You have got to be friendly first.

If you have a kid brother or sister, keep them off in your training sessions. You are going to be the master and the rabbit will soon realize the relationship.

Teach the rabbit what you want and at the end of every training event make sure you feed the rabbit with a tasty food item. Your pet will look for these rewards. Praise the rabbit with gentle strokes and reveal your affection through your soft touch.

Do not sport a rough expression on your face. Do not shout. Do not try to grab or hit the rabbit. If you do not want the rabbit to do something you do not like, simply say the word, “No”. When the rabbit listens to your command, reward the pet with food.

Rabbits are chewing animals. Keep objects like your books away. Leave items like card- boards, old newspapers, or carpet pieces on the floor when the rabbit is moving around in your house. These items will keep the rabbit engaged.

You have got to be patient and also consistent. Rabbits learn from mistakes. They are no different from you.

Neutered rabbits are calm and relaxed. If they are acquired from rescue centers they must have already undergone some training and your task will be made much easy.
