What Preparations Are Necessary To Bring Home A Rabbit? |
|
| |
It is important you make your house ideal for your rabbit pets. You need to do a bit of home- work before you introduce rabbits into your house.
- Rabbits have certain inherent qualities. They are diggers.
- Rabbits look for room corners.
- Put materials such as coir, old carpet pieces, and doormats in the room corners.
- Curtains need to be shortened.
- Cords of window-blinds or door-blinds have to be rolled up so that rabbits will be safe from being strangled.
- Remove all house plants.
- Rabbits are curious animals and they will dig in the pots and chew the plants.
- You should know some plants are poisonous.
- It is always important to protect your house furniture. Rabbits tend to scratch and damage the linings. Provide gaps behind the sofas and couches. Leave old carpet rolls for the rabbits to explore and leave the furniture safe.
- All wires and cables have to be properly protected. Make sure that there are no dangling structures anywhere that may draw the attention of rabbits.
- Rabbits need a bit of training before they are let off free. It is always advisable to start the life of your pet rabbit in a suitable cage. Select a cage that suits your rabbit’s size.
- Place food and water bowls made of ceramic. Prepare a bed of hay in a tray for the rabbit to sit on. The cage floor may be lined with rolls of newspaper.
- A cat litter box is a must for the rabbit. That is where your rabbit will urinate or defecate. Place some paper towels by the side of the litter box.
Rabbits live in burrows in the wild. You have to provide a sort of
” Burrow environment “in your house for your pet to get adapted to your way of living. Only then are you ready to bring a rabbit into your house. |
