Do Rabbits Need Care? Yes, They Are Like Any Other Pets. What Should You Do? |

Feed the rabbit twice a day with hay, rabbit food and vegetables. Change the water. Let your rabbit move out of cage freely in the mornings before you go to school and in the evenings after you return from the school. Give your company with some edibles. The rabbit will gain confidence and finally will sit on your lap and play with you.
Rabbits like to eat hay. You can combine rabbit diets and hay and feed your pet. Include one or two leafy vegetables. Do not overfeed rabbits.
Good exercise for rabbits improves digestion. Let your rabbit run in the backyard and play games with you. Rabbits need to be maintained lean and kept fit.
Check your rabbit daily. Take the assistance of your elders if you have to take the rabbit for a medical checkup. Dirty bottom, running eyes or nasal discharge indicate that your rabbit is sick and needs medical attention.
Clean the litter box twice a week. Use cat litter in the box. It absorbs urine.
You should know that the rabbits have two types of droppings. Rabbits first eliminate from their anus, cecotrophs that are shiny dark droppings. The rabbit feeds on this material as they emerge from their anus. This activity happens during the evenings. Early in the morning the rabbit eliminates round droppings that are the fecal material. You can distinguish these two types of droppings through your observation. The litter box has to be cleared of the fecal droppings as and when you happen to notice them.
Make a routine observation of your rabbit every day and write down anything you may find abnormal in the face, jaws, legs, paws and fur. Your notes will help the veterinarian to diagnose the problem and give your rabbit the correct medical treatment. Make sure that your pet is properly protected from infection and disease.
